We are looking for a mid-level Data Scientist to join a fast-moving project focused on predictive analytics. This is an opportunity to make a real impact – refining existing algorithms and building new models to improve business performance.
The Role:

Analyse and improve an existing predictive algorithm.

What We’re Looking For:

THE ROLE:
Harnham is working with a leading fashion retailer in the UK who are looking to add a Senior Data Scientist to their UK team.
The focus of this new investment is to introduce cutting-edge machine learning to the business, solving problems across the company.
Projects will include: performance marketing (attribution modelling / market mix modelling), customer behaviour analysis, supply chain optimisation and dynamic pricing strategies.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- A solid understanding of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques
- A passion for solving complex commercial problems with a data-driven modelling approach
- Strong communication skills
- An MSc or equivalent in a STEM subject
- Strong skills in Python and SQL
- Cloud experience
- Experience in deploying, scaling and maintaining machine learning models in production.

They have an established data team within the organisation tackling a range of problems, and are growing their data science team to help bring a more sophisticated approach to key areas.

THE ROLE
You will be:
- Helping to lead data science efforts related to marketing problems and customer behaviour for the company (e.g. segmentations, propensity modelling, LTV, market mix modelling, attribution modelling etc).
- Help promote the company’s data-driven culture
- Work closely with other teams including engineering, product, pricing and CRM
- Come up with creative ways for the company to get results using data
- Pushing the boundaries and exploring new and innovative techniques
SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
You must have:
- A BSc or MSc in a STEM subject (e.g. Maths, Stats, Computer Science, Physics etc)
- Experience programming with Python
- Knowledge of a database query language (SQL preferred)
- Experience in using machine learning to solve customer/marketing-related problems
SALARY

THE COMPANY
As a Senior Data Scientist in this company, you will get to work with some massive clients within the FMCG / retail sectors using advanced modelling to understand their customer base. This is an opportunity to work amongst talented individuals across a wide range of projects in a fast-paced environment.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be working with leading retailers in the FMCG / retail sector as they aim to improve their knowledge and understanding of their customer base. You will be using advanced modelling techniques such as regression, propensity, churn and chaid analysis using a tech stack based around Python/PySpark and SQL.
You will be working on a consultancy basis, using statistical modelling to solve client’s problems using your excellent problem-solving skills. As well as this, you will be using advanced technology to increase clients understanding of their customers.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Data Scientist will have the following skills and experience:
- Experience working with Customer Data and statistical modelling
- Advanced commercial experience using SQL, Python/PySpark and Hadoop to build models such as Propensity and Clustering (K-means, Random Forest)
- Commercial experience within the FMCG / Retail industry is desirable
- Excellent communicational skills
- Experience working in a consultancy environment is desirable
- Educated to degree level in a STEM subject or similar
THE BENEFITS
The successful Data Scientist will receive a salary between £55,000 and £75,000. In addition to this, they shall receive an extensive benefits package, including your birthday off, early Friday finishes and 12% bonus.
