Focused on reducing misdiagnoses in radiology, their mission is to improve patient outcomes and drive cost-effective healthcare solutions. With major clients and a rapidly growing user base, the company is scaling quickly, bolstered by significant funding to expand their technology and data science teams.

THE ROLE:

Our client is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join their growing team. This role will be critical in analyzing healthcare claims data, conducting causal inference modeling, and contributing to the mission of improving clinical outcomes. The individual will provide technical leadership, collaborate across teams, and support the development of data pipelines and statistical models.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform in-depth analysis of healthcare claims data to identify trends, savings opportunities, and insights related to clinical outcomes.
  • Lead and contribute to the development of causal inference models that quantify savings and improvements in clinical outcomes.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, including difference-in-differences modeling, to assess the impact of various interventions.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with other team members to refine and expand the company's statistical models and data pipelines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in causal modeling and econometrics, offering guidance on the most appropriate methodologies and statistical approaches.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure methodological rigor in analyses and support technical writing.
  • Participate in client discussions to present findings and provide expert insights.
  • Take ownership of the codebase, ensuring its scalability and efficiency, and contribute to the improvement of existing models.
  • Conduct analysis for business needs and support new client inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced expertise in statistical modeling and causal inference methods, with a strong preference for experience in difference-in-differences and econometric techniques.
  • Proven experience analyzing healthcare claims data, with a focus on clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness.
  • Strong coding experience, with the ability to maintain and extend existing codebases ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Experience working in environments where code is put into production, with practical applied computer science knowledge.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a demonstrated ability to pivot quickly and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation and contribute to thought leadership materials.

TECH STACK:

  • R (primary language), including Sparklyr for Spark integration
  • SQL
  • Python (preferred, but not heavily emphasized)
